The Papal States were territories in the Italian Peninsula under the sovereign direct rule of the pope, from the 700s until 1870. They were among the major states of Italy from roughly the eighth century until the Italian Peninsula was unified in 1861 by the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia. At their zenith, they covered most of the modern Italian regions of Lazio (which includes Rome), Marche, Umbria and Romagna, and portions of Emilia.
rdfs:type
predicate, which assigns an entity to one or more parental classes. RCs within the KKO graph may be equivalent (owl:equivalentClass
), a parent super class (kko:superClassOf
), a child sub class (rdfs:subClassOf
), or a closely related concept (kko:isCloselyRelated
). These relationships define the edges between the nodes in the graph structure, and are also the basis for logical inferencing.
